Jaqueline Ortiz Director of Information Technology
Major: Legal Studies and Intended Business Administration Year: Sophomore Pronouns: She/Her/Hers Email:firstname.lastname@example.org Bio:Hi everyone! I am a proud first-generation, Latina student at Cal! My parents are from Mexico and I was born and raised in the bay area. I started my career at Cal feeling a little out of place. I went from seeing so many Latinx students all throughout grade school to now being able to count on my fingers how many Latinx students are in my lectures. Once I joined LBSA during my first semester, I found my Familia that accepts me and provides the unconditional support I need to challenge my capacities to reach my true potential. I know firsthand of the tribulations that our community faces everyday, and how these tribulations lead to us being severely underrepresented in higher education. For me, being a Latina at UC Berkeley is a huge honor, and I feel as if every single day LBSA gives me an opportunity to acquire the academic, professional, and personal knowledge needed for me to continue uplifting our community. During my freshman year, I interned under the Alumni Relations committee where I became a liaison for our members and alumni. This semester, I am excited to serve as your Director of Information Technology! This past summer I interned for Deloitte in their Pioneer Program where I participated in projects under Risk & Financial Advisory and research regarding the candidate experience in Deloitte’s recruiting process. In my free time, I love to hike, dance, hang out with friends and family, I also love meeting new people, so don’t hesitate to say hi! I hope to make LBSA your home away from home!
