Gustavo Aguilar Ramos Director of Information Technology
Major: Data Science Year: Sophomore Email:email@example.com Bio: I am a sophomore at UC Berkeley studying Data Science. I was born and raised in Mexico for seven years, then moved to Orange County and now I’m here in the Bay Area. This summer I was a part of Stay Hacking 2018, a hackathon that brought together minorities, dreamers, and allies in order to incorporate more POC into the tech sector. This completely changed my mindset and sparked a passion for software development. I was also a part of a nonprofit that’s geared towards education reform, an organization that fights for a better education system for low-income students. I’m passionate about helping my own community through software development because I believe that our education system can be improved by funding a more technological based learning approach. LBSA was the first organization I joined when I arrived to Berkeley. Before getting this position, I was apart of the Alumni Relations Committee where I helped plan events such as the Tailgate event that happened in October. I was also a part of the Finance Committee where I learned how to audit, set budgets, and became more aware of what it takes to manage the funds for such a successful organization. I was also a part of the first ever, Investment Committee. This is where I learned more about the stock market, how to manage an investment fund, improved my research skills, and also learned how to prepare and pitch an idea. LBSA has become my familia, it’s an amazing organization that has allowed me to grow professionally, challenged me to push myself outside my comfort zone, and meet incredible individuals such as my mentor. So feel free to contact me if you have any questions, I love meeting new people!
